A Break for Bay Tree House

Thank you to all our amazing guests over the last 8 years at Bay Tree House. We are taking a break for a while to concentrate on our other business. Some of our regular guests are staying in our own home over the next few years & we look forward to making them welcome. Starting with the Ball family from Windsor,  October 1/2 term & the Tennants from the Cotswalds, Easter 2015.
We start work on the holiday let appartment in the top floor of our house next year which will be a very exciting project. Photos of progress to come on this blog.

We have availability left at Bay Tree now reduced. 19th - 24th Oct 5 nights for £250.
We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting some lovely people who we are delighted to say are now friends. Just a few of the reviews, not to mention the lovely ones left in our visitors books which we sincerely appreciate.
Thank you everyone so much!

“A wonderful holiday home.”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 for a stay in February 2014
We stayed here in February as a base for visiting my husband's parents in nearby Slapton. The property was delightful and I can't recommend it enough. It was very comfortable and attractively furnished/decorated. We enjoyed the little extras such as the wine and chocolates in the welcome pack, and the DVD selection which we enjoyed in the evening. Bay Tree House is centrally located with the Co-op at the end of the road and Dartmouth town centre a stroll away. In spite of its central location, the road itself is very quiet, and we enjoyed stunning views of the twinkling lights of Dartmouth from the bedrooms. The owners bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable, and were extremely helpful. Thank you.

Bay Tree House is a lovely comfortable property, well presented with attractive furnishings. It is like a 'home from home'. Very well positioned, within a short walking distance of the town and river.
Plenty of good quality restaurants within easy reach of the property. An excellent place to stay if you wish to visit anywhere in the South Hams area.

Both Theresa and Simon were an absolute pleasure to deal withand we very much appreciated all of their warm touches which made us feel at home and instantly relaxed. The house is beautiful, very tastefully done with gorgeous finishing touches. Our time in Dartmouth was a real pleasure helped by Theresa and SImon and the beautiful house. I wouldn't hesitate in returning, which will hopefully be very soon, or recommending this place to family and friends. Thank you for making it a very memorable holiday.

Liked best: The lovely finishing touches - showed a lot of thought and care
Liked least: There's only one bathroom, which wasn't a proble for the two of us, but may be an issue for a family. EIther way, I really am splitting hairs!

“A fabulous stay!”

Have just returned from a great week at Bay Tree House!

The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you could need! It's centrally located and although there is no parking at the house, we had no trouble at all in finding free parking nearby.

We loved just walking into Dartmouth on a morning as the town centre is just a few minutes away. There is so much to do, from visiting Dartmouth Castle to taking the ferry across to Kingswear

Would definitely recommend Bay Tree House, lovely!

“Fantastic House!!!”
Reviewed 26 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012
We found Baytree House on trip adviser and was really impressed with all the positive feedback and we were not disappointed. The house is fantastic with extra touches that will make your stay even more enjoyable, for example a chilled bottle of wine waiting upon arrival!! The house is very clean and tidy and is in a fantastic location- you are only a minute from all the shops and harbour. We have two children and found that having the extra 3rd bedroom was great with a playroom where our children were very entertained, there were toys and books and the view from the playroom is lovely.
The beds are so comfortable, the best we have slept in whilst being away from home. The kitchen is all equipped with everything needed if you wish to cook and there are extras like high chair, baby listeners and travel cot if you have a baby. We would strongly recommend Baytree House to everyone you will not be disappointed! We will definately return again.

“Gorgeous Georgian townhouse in a great location”
Reviewed 11 May 2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed for a week in May in this immaculately presented property. The furniture and fittings are all great quality - lots of one-off pieces and lovely art works make for a relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped and modern and there is a lovely dining space for eating in. If you prefer to go out, the property is just a couple of minute's walk from Dartmouth centre, with a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs within easy walking distance. There are two spacious double bedrooms - one with access to the roof terrace (didn't get to use it unfortunately but it looked great for a relaxing G&T;). On the top floor there is a great little play-room,adjoining the twin bedroom, with a variety of toys (and a safety gate).
It is not possible to park outside but loading/unloading is not a problem as there is little traffic on the road making it very quiet. A parking permit is supplied for a nearby car park (less than 5 minutes walk).
The friendly owners live nearby and are happy to help with any information you might need.
We loved this property and will definitely be back.

“Just lovely!”

We thought Bay Tree House was fantastic. It's decorated and kitted out really beautifully. It feels luxurious and welcoming. We have a toddler and find places of this calibre can sometimes make us feel uncomfortable but the Harts provided everything we needed including a travel cot, high chair and baby bedding. It felt like it was ok for him to be there! We had such a relaxing time there and will definitely go back.

Baytree house is a delight. It is in an excellent position, only a short walk from the river and the Boat float and has lovely views from the top of the house.
The whole house is decorated with such imagination and style and includes original art work from Simon and other artists which creates a wonderfully relaxing environment.
There were many thoughtful touches which was typical of the helpful attitude of the owners.
Being at Baytree was just a wonderful way to spend a week.

We had the most wonderful relaxing stay at BayTree House. The house is beautifully designed with gorgeous fabrics, and everything you may need is provided for by the lovely owners Simon and Theri. The house is centrally located, which is great, especially if you run out of something. The biggest plus was The toy room, which was a wonderful escape for the children (and for us)! We had an excellent stay and we will definitely return in the near future!

“Warm, Comfortable and Inviting, in the best part of Dartmouth”

Having stayed at Bay Tree House on two occasions, I can honestly say this a fantastic holiday let. being owned by two well known local artists, this is very evident in the design and finish of the property, it's warm and welcoming, well appointed with everything anyone would require for either a weekend or a long stay. Access to a wealth of knowledge on the local and surrounding areas is provided. The house is off a beautiful, quiet, private street in the centre of town right near the harbour and all the boutiques and shops. If your looking for a real Dartmouth experience this house ticks all the boxes.

“A home from home tucked away in the centre of Dartmouth”
Reviewed 8 December 2011 for a stay in June 2011
Have stayed at Bay Tree Cottage twice now. Have also stayed twice at the sister property, Hartworks House.
Bay Tree is tucked away conveniently close to the centre of Dartmouth. There are 3 floors so from upstairs you have great views over the roof tops down to the River Dart.
The cottage is very homely with lovely decor and makes for a comfortable stay. All the rooms are of a good size and there is a small terrace outside for a secluded glass of wine in the evenings which are very peaceful despite being so close to the centre.
You are just a five minute walk away from several great restaurants, bars & shops in Dartmouth.
For access, the road is quite tight for most cars, however, there is normally ample parking available just a two minute walk away.
Great for children, romantic for couples. One of our favourite little haunts...

“Stunning house in the heart of historic Dartmouth”
Reviewed 2 December 2011 for a stay in December 2010
A beautiful house decorated with original prints by its artist owners. Situated in the very heart of historic Dartmouth, Bay Tree House was a wonderfully comfortable and well-equipped base for our midwinter break. Warm and cosy, stylishly furnished in brilliant colours to chase away the winter blues and well stocked with movies to watch when the weather drew in, our family of four enjoyed staying here enormously. So much so that we'll be going back in the Christmas holidays again this year. A really child-friendly place with plenty of toys and lots to do nearby in Dartmouth. The surrounding scenery and beaches are stunning, so this would be a fantastic base in summer too.
